A new glassy phenomenon, the strain glass, was recently reported in a ferroelastic/martensitic system, Ni-rich Ti_(50-x)Ni_(50+x) (x>l) binary alloy by our group]. This new phenomenon is ascribed to the freezing of local strain due to the introduction of point defects. In the present study, we investigated the defect effect on the transformation behavior of Ti_(50)Ni_(50-x) Co_x alloys, by changing the Co-content. Here Co atoms take the place of Ni sites, and they act as the point defect.
