We previously reported *) that the hydrostatic pressure gave effect on the glass-forming ability (GFA) in Zr-based alloys during casting. The critical diameter of glassy rods prepared in vacuum was apparently different from those in ambient argon gas. In this work, we further investigate the effect of atmospheric-gas parameters, namely gas species and pressure, during casting on as-cast structure in several glassy alloys. As hydrostatic chamber pressure influences the GFA, varying gas species in casting chamber may also lead to the change of rod's as-cast structure. Here, we will see the difference of rod's as-cast structure prepared in Ar and He atmospheres during casting. Investigation is also carried out for several glassy alloy systems to figure out the universality of phenomenon.
