Core-shell lattices are importance in coatings, adhesives and many other areas. Polysiloxane possesses a number of special properties, such as high flexibility, good weather resistance and excellent thermal stability. Thus, it is an excellent material for the modification of polyacrylates. However, there are only a few reports on siloxane, especially, polysiloxane in shell phase. In this work, a difunctional monomer, γ-Methacryloxypropyl trimethoxy silane (WD-70) was used to prepare the core-shell polyacrylate latex containing silicon in the shell. The polymerization condition was discussed in detail. The components of the latex containing silicon were determined by FT-IR and DSC. The morphology of the latex particles was investigated by transmission electron microscopy (TEM). The water contact angles were determined by Wilhelmy method.
