Preparation of three dimentional tissue constructs is a key research area within tissue engineering, mainly because the conventional two-dimentional cell-culture approach results in anomalous cellular behaviour, morphology and physiology. Compared to 2D cell-culture the cells in 3D cell-culture undergo different tissue development, the 3D culture seems to affect regulatory, signaling and other cellular processes, the matrix interactions increase biological activities and narrow the use of integrins. Understanding the structural and functional role of 3D constructs is important for developing engineered tissue construct, required for many applications.
