As a result of increasing worldwide concerns about the affect of the level of toxic gas emission on everyday life, today's global and local environmental regulations are intended to reduce the level of plants emission. Under these regulations, the plants have responsibility for lowering and following the fugitive emission limit standards within their respective area. One factor in reducing emission to the atmosphere, as related to a variety of components, but particularly compressor applications, is the selection of optimal sealing technology. This paper describes the use of an innovative sealing technology that has already proven to greatly reduce the fugitive emission from compressors as compared to conventional sealing systems.
