摘要

Wet tire/road friction is a complex problem due to large number of parameters involved. Several practical studies have tried to correlate the tire/road friction to the asphalt surface roughness, the compounding of the polymer and water depth. Thanks to these practical studies, beneficial knowledge has been gained about the effect of different factors on wet sliding friction. However, most of the practical researches performed have considered only a limited range of factors (limited road surfaces or compounds) to correlate friction parameters to friction. Even though each study could successfully validate its results, lack of a comprehensive theory relying on the base of physical principles is noticed. Therefore the correlations found cannot explain the results of other studies. On the other hand a gap between novel friction models and field tests is observed. This work studies the importance of micro roughness, macro roughness and rubber compound together with a comprehensive theory to explain the wet tire/road friction on real scale and pin-on-disk measurement results on lab scale.
