THE TRIBOLOGY LABORATORY AT UP-COLLABORATION BETWEEN ACEDEMIA INDUSTRY

The Tribology laboratory at UP do not function only as an academic research lab, but also as an evaluation lab for industry. Presently the main fields of research are gear lubrication, diesel lubricity and minimum quantity lubrication. Several tribometers including an Optimol SRV 4 and PCS Instruments HFRR is utilized to analyze lubrication, friction and wear. A Strama FZG machine is used for the evaluation of gear oils and greases in accordance with ASTM standards. Several analytical instruments are available enabling investigations into lubricant reology, boiling characteristics, flash point and lubricant sprayability.
