摘要

Zinc dialkyldithiophosphates (ZnDTP) are well known multifunctional additives that improve antiwear and antioxidant properties. It has been recognized that ZnDTP can increase friction while they effectively reduce wear. In recent studies, their friction-increasing property has been found to occur in mixed lubrication rather than in boundary lubrication [1]. It is important to elucidate the friction properties of ZnDTP with the aim of controlling friction, in order to reduce unnecessary energy consumption. There has, however, been a lack of both systematic research on the frictional properties of ZnDTP and better understanding how they increase the friction.
