Silicon carbide powders were synthesized by sol-gel processes from liquid precursors, in order to obtain high-purity silicon carbide ceramic powders. Tetraethoxysilan and fine silica powders were used for starting materials as the sources of silicon, while phenolic resin was used for the carbon source.
