A diode laser sensor based on absorption spectroscopy has been used for the measurement of spectroscopic parameters in the R(4) manifold of 2ν_3 band of CH_4. Individual line strengths of each transition were determined for a range of temperatures. In addition, collision-broadened half-widths of these transitions for CO_2, N_2, CH_4, and CO collision partners were measured as a function of temperature and pressure. From this, temperature dependence of the collision half-width for each collision partner was determined. In addition, a new method for calculation of collisional broadening at high temperatures with strongly overlapped transitions is presented.
