摘要

Direct gaseous reduction of iron ore concentrate to iron in a suspension process would reduce energy consumption for ironmaking by nearly 38% of the amount required by the blast furnace process and drastically lower environmental pollution, especially CO_2 emission, from the steel industry. Some previous studies on iron oxide reduction indicated that the rate might not be fast enough for a suspension process to be possible. New rate data on the reduction of fine concentrate particles by hydrogen-containing gases indicating sufficient rates form the basis for the new technology. Details of the rate measurements are presented in this paper.
