The stresses in ceramic-lined steel pipe in the forming process by centrifugal thermite were calculated. The influence of stresses on crack initiation was analyzed. The results and conclusions are as follows: The centrifugal stress is rather small. However, the crack source in ceramic layer and iron layer can be initiated by the centrifugal stress. The stress by temperature gradient is approximately zero when the average temperature of ceramic layer and of steel pipe approaches the same value. The deformation coordination stresses are the main stresses. The weight ratio of steel pipe to thermite and the material characteristic of steel pipe are the main factors affecting the deformation coordination stresses.
