Over the last years, more and more abrasive media have been and are being transported through pipelines. The main reason for this increase is the fact that numerous easily accessible oil and gas fields which provide relatively pure product streams are nearing depletion. Therefore, sources that contain higher degrees of impurities or - relevant to this discussion - higher degrees of solids, are now in production to fill the demand.
