摘要

Sulfur and its derivatives are primary toxic components in hydrocarbon fuels, and are among the major poisons for noble metal electrodes in fuel cell systems. Hence, sulfur concentration is critical for hydrocarbon feeds in mobile fuel cell stacks. Among commercial fuels, jet fuels contain higher sulfur concentrations since they are not regulated by EPA. For on board SOFC unit, the post-reformate gases require less than 30 ppm of sulfur concentration. Conventional hydrodesulfurization (HDS) process requires high pressure, high temperature along with auxiliary units hence it is not suitable for on board systems. Desulfurization via adsorption is a simple, compact, energy saving process and can be a viable approach for this problem.
