摘要

Emerging pollutants are receiving increasing attention by the scientific community because of their hazard and potential to become priority pollutants. Here we present the most recent results concerning endocrine disrupting chemicals(EDCs)and Pharmaceuticals and personal care products(PPCPs)identified in a coastal lagoon.Spatial and time distribution of EDCs and PPCPs were investigated in waters as well as in primary sources(sewage treatment plant effluents, hospital effluents)and target sinks(sediments, biota).Effects were evaluated by in vitro and in vivo experiments on selected organisms and a screening level ecological risk assessment(SERA)was carried out to estimate the potential adverse effects of analyzed EDCs on representative organisms of the lagoon food web.The current environmental exposure concentrations can impair the environmental health status and fish was proven to be the food web component potentially most affected by endocrine effects.
