Biomass, as the major part of the renewable energy, contains high content of alkalis during plant growth. Parts of alkali metallic species tend to release into gas phase during biomass gasified, so, the biomass alkalis might to be as a catalyst during the biomass/coal co-gasification. However, the alkalis would easily happen to migrate which has the strong relation with the type of the fuel, ash component, oxygen/reduction environment and the gasification temperature. The partitioning of the alkalis and the alkali metallic species formed during the co-gasification process will be different from the biomass or coal gasification alone. The biomass alkalis migration route and its corresponding catalytic behavior during co-gasification with coal is investigated in this paper.
