In recent years the route of producing automotive fuels by the Fischer-Tropsch (FT) process has gained attention. Diesel produced in this way has good combustion properties (high cetane number) and is virtually free from polluting sulphur-, nitrogen- and aromatic compounds. The highest diesel yield is obtained by maximizing FTS selectivity towards long chain hydrocarbons (waxes), which are subsequently hydrocracked to the desired range [1].
