Carbons carriers have many favorable features as the support such as high surface areas, correlated pore and controllable surface functional groups to be less acidic but highly dispersibility compared with the alumina-supported systems. Because carbon has weak adsorption properties for hydrocarbons such as aromatics and for nitrogen-containing compounds, these catalysts might be less susceptible to poisoning and fouling than the alumina systems.
