摘要

Studies on the morphological changes associated with peripheral nerve injuries have always attracted interest for at least two reasons. First, cellular alterations of sensory ganglion neurons often have been regarded as general reactions of the nerve cell to injury in a model system that is relatively easily accessible. Second, and more important, cellular changes of sensory ganglion neurons are expected to give information on the pathological mechanisms, in particular hyperalgesia and chronic neuropathic pain, that might be induced by injuries affecting the peripheral nerves.
