Film constitutes the largest portion of plastic generated by weight and volume. Nearly 70% of film is readily recyclable; however, a small percentage is recovered in the U.S.A. In response to a need for increased diversion from landfills and supply for plastic reclaimers, Moore Recycling Associates and the American Plastics Council developed a pilot program for CA to facilitate the recovery of clean polyethylene film. The program, www.PlasticBagRecycling.org, provides information and technical support for the development of new consolidation points throughout the state.
