Like almost any other countries Denmark is confronted with new demands to its military forces. This is due to the Revolution in Military Affairs which together with Revolution in Technological Affairs, Revolution in Economic Affairs, and Revolution in Societal Affairs all are supported by Revolution in International Affairs: the new unipolar world order. After the end of the cold war Denmark chose in order to avoid international marginalization to " militarize" its foreign policy. The armed forces should be able to conduct international missions. Denmark changed its strategy from the cold-war position of a defensive, non-provocative actor to the post cold war position of a civilian/military offensive actor. After September 11, Denmark again changed its position to a strategic offensive actor. As part of this change Denmark is now in the process of the most penetrating transformation of its military forces in 50 years. This transformation is for the first time embracing the requirement of the Revolution in Military Affairs, including a radial change of the conscription system.
