摘要

The design of the Chester Morse Lake Pump Plant and Intake provides a recent example of the use of underground space for lifeline infrastructure. An underground pump plant constructed on the side of a steep slope along Chester Morse Lake provides security, preserves aesthetics, and reduces operation and maintenance costs when compared to an above ground structure. When completed, the pump plant, pipeline and intake tunnel will access dead storage within Chester Morse Lake to provide drinking water to Seattle, and meet in stream fish flow requirements at low lake levels.
