Using Knowledge-Based Systems in Production Planning and Control Systems

摘要

This paper makes an introduction on how Knowledge-Based Systems (KBS) can be used in Production Planning and Control (PPC) Systems. It starts with a brief introduction on KB systems including the main knowledge representation structures and knowledge processing methods. A presentation of possible KB applications in PPC is included that could support several PPC subsystems including Forecasting, Planning, long-term and short-term Scheduling, Shop Floor Control (SFC) and Quality Management. Finally implementation and integration issues of KBS within PPC are considered.
