Antennas are mandatory devices for ultra wideband systems. A comprehensive characterization and its application are demonstrated for examples of different antenna types for the frequency range from 3.1 GHz to 10.6 GHz. Investigations of the transient radiation behavior of the logarithmic periodic dipole array, the Vivaldi antenna and the Spiral antenna are presented.
