Assessment of Bed Regulation Methods in Urban Rivers

Bed erosion problem in urban rivers, its origins and available engineering solutions are discussed. Using single drops and cascade drops to control degradation are considered specifically and compared to each other. In developing cascade drop scheme, hydraulic simulation may be facilitated with the aid of a concept called 'resistance in rough channels" A methodology to demonstrate this facility is used. Finally, results of implementing methods to the river under study (Maqsoodbeig river in Tehran-Iran) is presented and discussed.
