The image given from the X-ray CT of a gravel soil is analyzed in order to acknowledge the mechanism of the growth of crack-shear band relation and macro pore structure occurs during uniaxial compression. Especially, the geometry major axis on the cracks generated by shear is examined. The cracks having more than a certain major axis exist with the consistent manner on their direction against the compression line. The boundary scale for crack growth is confirmed. It is concluded that the cracks allocated within the final slide angle are involved to the serious damage of soil structure.
