CAMEROON POWER SECTOR PLANNING FOR CEMAC ELECTRICITY MARKET

Given the plan to interconnect the networks of the Central African Region known by its French acronym as CEMAC, the Government of Cameroon (GOC) is undertaking an ambitious 25-year electricity sector development plan (2005-2030) thus a necessity for Cameroon Power Sector Planning for CEMAC Electricity Market. Electricity generation, transmission and distribution is incomplete without usage thus the mastering of electric power utilization is critical for adequate planning and system operation to avoid stressing of system equipment above the design capabilities as well as over/under building of the system facilities. The other countries within the Central African Region are even worse off than Cameroon in terms of their ability to plan, build, and run their systems and even manpower needs. By planning, carrying out the development plan and rehabilitating the Cameroon power sector, this will lead to a competitive electricity price and a better position in the CEMAC regional power market.
