In the process of producing poly(ethylene terephthalate) fibers, the profile of several physical parameters such as temperature, stress, velocity in the spinline affects the structure and mechanical properties of resultant fibers In this study, effect of the distance between spinning nozzle and take-up roll (L) and temperature of take-up roll on fiber properties in spin-drawing process of high molecular weight PET was investigated. In the case of L=56cm, the fiber re-drawn after the in-line drawing process showed higher strength and initial modulus than in the case of fibers prepared through regular spin-drawing process and classical 2-step producing process. These results suggested that the drawability and the fiber strength could be improved when the spin-drawing process was carried out by setting the first roll at the position of the high fiber temperature.
