Ionizing radiation is a safe and reliable technology for disinfection of wastewaters and biosolids, but the practical application arises as economically viable when the irradiated product is used as organic amendment or fertilizer for industrial crops. Irradiation process releases plant available forms of Nitrogen, that means an advantage compared to other disinfection methods. The Argentine project of Irradiated Biosolids for Sugarcane production is described. Comparative analyses of irradiated / non-irradiated biosolids and sugarcane field crop experiment results are shown. The increase of crop yield was 40% in irradiated biosolids fertilization, 10% in non-irradiated biosolids and 50% with chemical fertilizer (urea). It is verified that the quality of sugarcane juice is not altered.
