Dense ceramic coatings were fabricated in the present study by using HVOF spraying and with Al_2O_3-TiO_2 powder feedstocks. In order to investigate the effects of feedstock nature and spray process, conventional and nanostructured Al_2O_3-TiO_2 powder feedstocks were sprayed by using two different HVOF spray systems. Coating properties such as microstructure, bond strength, hardness and wear resistance were measured. Dense Al_2O_3-TiO_2 coatings with porosity of about 1% were successfully made by using HVOF spraying in the present work, and the performance of the HVOF-sprayed ceramic coatings were evaluated and compared with conventional plasma sprayed ceramic coatings.
