Contribution of High-tech Industry and Industry Structure-A Case of Hubei Province

In this paper we build a regression model, analyze the contribution of high-tech industry to Hubei economy, the second industry, and the third industry in Hubei, describe the change of the high-tech industry from 1994 to 2003 by the curve of time series, the trend of the increase of GDP of each industry and the whole economy, and the trend of the proportion of GDP of each industry to GDP of the economy. We compare the elasticity of output of each industry and the trend of the proportions of GDP of each industry between Wuhan and Hubei. And we conclude that the high-tech industry has played an important role in both promoting the economic increase and optimizing the industry structure in the past ten years. We also argue that the high-tech industry of Hubei has very great space and potential to be developed.
