Air cleaners are usually classified by the method employed to remove particles of various sizes from the air. There are three general types of air cleaners on the market. They are mechanical filters, electronic air cleaners and ion generators. Some air cleaners are designed to remove gaseous pollutants as well as particles. However, studies on the removal effectiveness of portable or domestic air cleaners on gaseous pollutants are limited. So we conducted an experiment study with a testing method in the constant-pollutant emission to the air cleaner. The performance was expressed by the index of equivalent clean air rate or ECAR(m~3/h). Three types of air cleaners' ECAR ranged from 16.1 to 17.3(m~3/h). In this report, our prediction method on in door concentration was confirmed, it turned out that prediction and mesured values were well corresponded, and this prediction method provided a high accuracy of predictions on formaldehyde concentratuion indoors with air cleaners.
