Removal equipment for NO_x in the air was developed on the basis of diffusion scrubber method. This equipment consists of two parallel plates coated with TiO_2 as a photocatalyst and UV lamp, and it can oxidize NO_x to HMO_3 and remove NO_x by flowing the air into the narrow space between two plates. As the results of evaluation experiment of the developed equipment, it was found that high removal efficiency and high removal capacity for NO_x were obtained. By use of flexible nonwoven fabric instead of stainless plate, pleated type of diffusion scrubber was newly devised. Theoretical removal efficiency of NO_x by pleated type of diffusion scrubber could be calculated by Gormley -Kennedy equation with the concept of a considerable diameter. As the result, it was found that pleated type of diffusion scrubber could be treated the twice volume of polluted air at the same removal efficiency compared with parallel plate type of diffusion scrubber. NO_x removal experiment was investigated by pleats type of diffusion scrubber with black lights as a light source. As the result, it was found that experimental value of NO_x removal efficiency was agreeded with the theoretical value of that. Moreover, NO_x removal experiment was also investigated by sunlight as a light source instead of black lights.
