摘要

Recent advancement in computer technology have led to the widespread creation and use of simulation models in variety of fields. Prior to the development of simulation models, planning and improvements of various facilities were typically undertaken by computational methods which are very much complex in nature and time consuming. Computer simulation models are able to provide better measures of effectiveness, and added dimension to analyze the existing conditions. In present study, a real-time computer model is developed using JAVA language to simulate the existing heterogeneous traffic at an urban intersection along with robust visual output. By using this model, traffic conditions that could previously be described only in words or numbers now can be simulated on a computer and displayed so that a visual real-time picture of traffic conditions can be seen under different scenarios.
