Efficiency of nutrient removal from aquaculture effluents by using constructed wetland systems is a key issue for protecting receiving water body and aquatic ecosystems from eutrophication and for potential reuse of treated water for fish-farming activities (Lin et al., 2002a). Most studies were carried out in small constructed wetlands, treating both marine and freshwater aquaculture effluents (Swartz and Boyd, 1995; Lin et al., 2002a, 2003; Schultz et al., 2003). There is a growing concern on the feasibility of water treatment on commercial farms because of land areas required and effluents volumes. The aim of the present study was to quantify nutrient removal from effluents of an intensive sturgeon commercial farm by using large-scale constructedwetlands.
