CONSERVATION OF THE IMPERILLED CYPRINID FISH SPECIES, LAKE MINNOW (EUPALLASELLA PERCNURUS), IN POLAND

E. percnurus is a species of a broad occurrence in the northern hemisphere ranging from Poland in the west to the Pacific Ocean in the east. In Poland, this tiny fish (usually < lOg BW) is an inhabitant of small isolated water bodies, today almost exclusively of anthropogenic origin, most often extremely shallowed remnants of peat excavations dug in the first half of the XX TM century (Wolnicki et al., 2007). These water bodies often suffer from severe water deficits, therefore they are strongly vulnerable to destruction of total drying off, in many cases considerably sped up by human activities.
