摘要

Since the ontogenetic development of different organ or tissue characteristics of larval and metamorphosing fish may be adaptive responses to different functional needs, it is important to study the morphological and histological aspects of selected species in order to optimize early life rearing conditions. Digestive efficiency and energy storage increase during differentiation of the larval gut and associated organs. Morphological and functional differences between fish species and during ontogenesis may explain why some are easier to cultivate than others. Furthermore, a simultaneous registration of a larva's developmental state and its tissue condition may be particularly useful in connection with studies of groups with reduced growth or starving symptoms.
