By controlling all key steps of the reproductive life, notably the synthesis and release of pituitary gonadotrophins (FSH and LH), the brain is a major component of the reproductive axis during the entire lifespan of the fish. Although major advanceshave been made over the last years in our understanding of these central mechanisms, there are still a number of unresolved issues that represent true bottlenecks for the development of sustainable aquaculture.
