The Southern King crab, Lithodes santolla, is the most important shellfish in Beagle Channel, Tierra del Fuego, Argentina. Larval development involves three larval stages, during a period comprising 6 to 7 days each one, in experimental conditions andone postlarval glaucothoe stage. Previous studies on larval culture and chemical composition during larval development have been made (Comoglio et al, 1991; Lovrich et al, 2003). This study attempts to evaluate physiological parameters during the firstlarval stage.
