The European fish culture is currently going towards a slower productive rhythm as a result of saturation of the markets. This strategy tends to promote the responsible management of the fish farming and conciliates perfectly with welfare of the reared animals. Besides, Fish Producers Associations and Great Distribution Retailers have adopted Codes of Conduct that include fish welfare among the criterion of total quality of the final product.
