The use of polytetrafluoroethylene (PTFE) reinforcing additive to improve the tear strength of elastomers such as silicone rubber1,2 and fluorosilicone rubber.3,4 Improved tear strength is important in reducing production costs by increasing output, since complex parts can be removed from hot molds with reduced scrap rate.
