To investigate punching and load bearing behavior, 11 tests with and without prestressing on edge to column connections using a realistic slab thickness were carried out at the Institute of Structural Concrete at the University of Technology in Aachen. A computational model was developed based on the test results and on non-linear three-dimensional FE simulations to predict the punching resistance of internal, edge and corner column slab connections taking into account the effect of eccentricity and prestressing.
