In DLR's arc-heated facility L3K a test campaign was performed on a generic flap model. The model was particularly designed to show influence of thermal fluid/structure interaction when exposed to a high enthalpy flow. Intrusive and non-intrusive measurement techniques were applied to measure the surface temperature distribution and temperature development inside the model. A special method was developed for a more comfortable analysis of infrared images. Comparison of the experimental data to the results of coupled numerical simulations of structure and flow field proved the necessity of considering thermal fluid/structure interactions for the flap configuration.
