Using matched objects between the Sloan Digital Sky Survey (SDSS) and the Second Guide Star Catalog (GSC-II), the GSC-II RF band photometry is characterized with respect to the Sloan r' band for both point sources and extended sources. Transforming the RF photometry of the extended objects (“non-stars” in GSC-II) within 10° of the NGP to r', the apparent magnitude distribution of galaxies as determined from Sloan data is recovered. Misclassification in GSC-II is characterized using the matching statistics and is found to vary with magnitude and the stellar density of the field. A statistical model of the GSC-II classifier is used to correct the source counts at lower galactic latitudes.
