Condition telemonitoring and diagnosis based on Web technology is a new departure in diagnostic system design philosophy. It is the technology used to integrate diagnostic systems into a customer's IT infrastructure (Intranet or Internet). This new design offers the following features: 1. Monitoring and diagnostic systems are equipped with embedded Web servers and information is provided in HTML page format. 2. Storage of measured data, data analysis, diagnosis etc. can be performed on any suitable machine in the computer network - these tasks are no longer limited to the system's hardware and software. 3. Creation of a "central diagnostic laboratory" does not require expensive facilities or equipment. It can be configured as a virtual facility using the existing IT infrastructure. 4. The measured data and analysis results provided by the systems and the tools needed for further analyses can be accessed from any computer (Windows, Mac, Unix or Linux) in the information network, (the only software requirement is a Web browser such as Netscape or Internet Explorer).
