The presence of various types of non-metallic inclusions in the metal aluminum may reduce mechanical properties, be detrimental to surface finish, increase porosity, and exhibit a tendency to increase corrosion, and cause hazardous processing conditions. In the current paper, the morphology, composition, amount, and size distribution of inclusions in aluminum are investigated through optical microscope and SEM detection. Inclusion removal from aluminum through filtration, gravity sedimentation and bubble flotation are experimentally and theoretically investigated and discussed.
