Debottlenecking Coker Fractionation Sections with High Capacity Trays and Structured Packing

The Fractionation Section (Main Fractionator and Gas Plant) of a Delayed Coker frequently limits the capacity of the unit. Low cost revamps with high capacity column internals can significantly debottleneck the unit while avoiding the high cost of column replacement. This paper reviews cost effective ways this can be accomplished. Examples of recent revamps are also provided.
