The Development of China's Iron and Steel Industry and the Supply of Scrap Steel

In the twenty-first century, iron and steel products are still irreplaceable structural material, and they are functional materials with largest volume and most wide use. World iron and steel industry quickens its pace of restructuring, with main manufacturing being transferred from developed countries to developing countries. China is experiencing the process of industrialization. Sustainable and fast development and industrial upgrading in all economic fields have enhanced the fast growth and structural adjustment of China's iron and steel industry. Steel scraps are one of the important raw materials for iron and steel production. The domestically produced steel scraps cannot satisfy the need of China's iron and steel industry development. There is a growing trend for China to import steel scraps and China has become one of the major steel scrap importing countries and is playing an important role in world steel scrap market.
