The authors offer the technological scheme of 09Cr3NiMo3VNbr (C 0.09%,Cr 3.0%, Ni 1.0%, Mo 3.0%, V 1.0%, Nb 1.0%, Ce 0.005%) carburizing steel producing, which takes into account the features of metal transformation. The physical and mechanical properties, durability and heat resistance of the developed carburized steel are just as good as those of chrome-cobaltnickel- molybdenum steel. For the first time the differential dilatometer is offered to use for the monitoring (and control) thermochemical treatment (TCT) of steel. This gives the flexibility directly to change the activity furnace endopotential and the parameters of the diffusion layer during the TCT. We describe the device operation principle and the correct use by the example of our carburizing steel. The paper presents the dilatometric curves that allow to detect and prevent the abnormality saturation process, caused by decarburization at the termination of diffusion saturation or insufficient atmospheric activity.
