The blast furnace process is critical for steel making as the hot metal quality has great impact on the steel performance. The burden distribution control is the key to insure the quality of the hot metal and achieve high productivity of the blast furnace. In addition, the burden distribution is directly related to the blast furnace efficiency and stability. In this paper, a mathematical model for estimating the burden distribution was developed with the combination of the falling curve, stock-line profile formation and burden descent. The iterative method to determine the stock-line profile was implemented. Each sub-model has been validated with published experimental data. Parametric studies have been conducted to investigate the factors that affect the impact point of the falling curve at the stock-line level.
